Q1: Where can I get a quick self help guide to the iPad?

Q2: I can't seem to sign up for an Apple ID without a credit card.

A: If you are having difficulty signing up for a free Apple ID from the iPad, please try to create one using your home computer. Click here for additional instructions.

 

Q3: Why can’t I update my Apps?

A: Your apps should be automatically updating. If they are not, go to Settings > Tap on iTunes & App Store on the left hand side> On the right hand side under the heading Automatic Downloads toggle Automatic Updates and Automatic Apps to on (green) setting.

 

Q4: Why can’t I sync my iPad to my home computer?

A: We have disabled this feature to ensure that apps are not accidentally erased. Please DO NOT try to sync your school issued Ipad to your computer.

 

Q5: How can I backup my files?

A: For notability, we suggest you create a free dropbox account. Once that is created you can autosync your notablility notes to this account. If you need directions on how to connect dropbox and notability, click here.

 

For backing up your pictures, iwork, iphoto, etc - you have other options. You can back up your information to icloud (using your own appleid), itunes or ebackpack (in the My Files area)

 

Q6: What do I do if I forget my passcode?

A: Please remove the passcode from your iPad. If you forget your passcode and try to input one too many times, your iPad will become disabled. Please visit the IT department to remove your passcode. We can do this only if the If this happens, the IT department will have to restore your iPad and you will lose all information on it.

 

Q7: What do I do if my iPad breaks?

A: If your iPad is broken and you need a replacement, please bring in a check for $49.00 made out to Oceanside School District. Also, please back up all of your work, if you haven’t already. Students can bring their iPad to the MS Library. Students can continue doing their homework on their home computer or paper.

 

Q8: How do I log into ebackpack from my iPad?

A: Look for the ebackpack app. The account name is oceanside.ebackpack.com. The username and password are the same as what your child uses to log into the computers in school.

 

 

Q9: How do I submit work to my teachers?

A: When you go to an app and you want to submit work to ebackpack you must use the share function (it looks like a box with an arrow coming out of it.) Next, tap "open in". Finally, look for the ebackpack icon.

 

From your home computer you can log into ebackpack and retrieve your files, send files, or view files by following these instructions.

Q11: Can I print from my iPad?

A: You need to get an AirPrint compatible printer.

 

Q12: Why doesn't my iPad charge?

A: Please use the power adapter that the school supplied with your ipad. If you use an iphone charger it will take much longer to charge your ipad. The two chargers are different wattages. Click here for additional information.
