We are excited to welcome back your children on Tuesday, September 5. It is a full day of school beginning with the first bell at 8:05AM. At the end of the day, a bell rings at 3:02PM for grades 1 and 2 to begin dismissal and 3:05PM for students in grades 3-6. Please read the document, Important Information, to answer your questions about School #4 and to help you prepare your child for the first day of school. It is important that you save this document for reference throughout the school year.
This year, our school theme is Explore. Read. Learn. Grow. If you followed me this summer on Twitter, you saw that the Kletters drove cross-country, close to 6,000 miles! We saw Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, Yellowstone National Park (the first National Park), Gettysburg and more. Why? As parents, we were inspired by the book 100 Places That Can Change Your Child’s Life. Children are naturally inquisitive and with each experience connections are made within their brains that will propel their learning forward. We hope that our children will remember this experience for the rest of their lives and arrive at school with a wealth of knowledge to connect to the topics and content they will learn this year.
Everyday, you provide experiences for your child that they will never forget and that will become the foundation for future learning when they enter our classrooms. From family vacations to simply making pancakes on a Saturday morning, all of your experiences followed up by reading together feed your child’s ability to learn in school and delve deeply into discussions with their teachers and peers.
Thank you for all you do to support your child, our school, and community. We are looking forward to a successful 2017/18 school year in which you actively connect with your child’s teacher and classroom as well participate in the various events led by our PTA. Our PTA provides parents with a network of peers, friends, and opportunities for leadership within our school.
Enjoy the summer days you have together as a family. Remember that the name and room number for your child’s teacher was listed on his/her report card at the end of June. If you have been unable to access your child’s report card, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. I am looking forward to seeing all of you on Tuesday, September 5, at 8:05AM. Information will follow for new students to our school as well as our first grade families who will be invited for a tour prior to the start of school.
